Search Patient
Patient search action can be performed from different interfaces. Regardless of which searching access point is used, the landing page will be the same. The Search Patient function should always be used when capturing a new patient as well as an existing patient to prevent duplicate entries for the same patient.
Search patient function can also be used to confirm that a patient is on the RIS system or to modify any personal information for the master data of the patient.
Note: The best practice to search for a patient’s record is rather with less than too much info. For best search results, search with the patient surname or the first part of the surname + Date of birth. There might be circumstances where other search criteria will be necessary, but as a rule, use the surname + date of birth.
When searching for a patient, you typically want to find the complete history of the patient:- RIS entry as well as all visits. Depending on which interface you are performing the search you might be able to view the history at a glance or you might need to expand the result to a second level to view the historical visits.
