MATCHING IMAGES
- The matching process is where all images coming into the PACS are matched to an order (RIS entry) created in the INFINITT RIS.
- It is important to have all images matched to a RIS entry. If the images are not matched, the invoice process cannot be performed and the auto distribution of approved reports will not be able.
- Matching of images is typically an automatic process if the modality uses a DICOM MODALITY WORKLIST and the radiographer has selected the patient entry from the DICOM worklist when performing the examination.
- Only images created for a new study should be matched to the order.
- Prior images are not matched to the order. (Important - if you match prior migrated/imported images to an existing RIS entry, the information on the image will change to the RIS entry and will seem like the images are new images done for the RIS entry) Prior images should be LINKED, not matched.
- If images are taken before the order has been created in INFINITT RIS, then there is a manual process to match these images to the order (typically for mobile x-rays - BSU)
- This process forms part of the radiographer's workflow.
How to manually Match unmatched images
- From the system manager page – launch the Matching module.
- The Matching worklist will launch with images on top and possible RIS entries (added patient information - RIS entry) at the bottom.
- To find RIS information (patient details) to match the images – type the patient’s surname, select the scheduled date and/or other available information in the appropriate filter field at the bottom and search.
- All patients that fit the search fields applied will be listed in the bottom list.
- Ensure that the RIS entry is in Arrived or In-Progress status. (NB: The system will not allow matching of images if the study is in Scheduled status.)
- Find the correct images in the top area that correspond with the RIS information in the bottom fields.
- Ensure it is the correct images before matching it to the RIS entry.
- Use the patient's surname and DOB to correlate.
- Tick the boxes in front of the images and RIS entry and click on ‘match’. A good practice is to always enter the patient's surname and DOB on the modality if not using the DICOM worklist. This will make the search process much easier.
NB!! Confirm that the DOB for images and RIS entry is the same before matching.
- Select both the images and the RIS entry at the bottom and click 'Match'.
- A confirmation message will prompt you to view the details of the image and the RIS entry before confirming the action. The performed study information will be replaced by the Scheduled study information. If satisfied that the information to match is correct, click on YES
